The Washoe County Sheriff’s Headquarters Housing Unit 7 HVAC Improvements project was completed in June of 2010. The design team was led by mechanical consultant CR Engineering of Reno, Nevada with Jensen Engineering and Lochsa Engineering providing electrical and structural design services, respectively. The county required that the HVAC improvements address a grow health concern for the corrections community: airborne infection isolation (AII). With these improvements, Washoe County can confront the growing threat of airborne infections in the incarcerated population. Energy consumption associated with heating and cooling is also significantly reduced. Furthermore, the HVAC improvements allow for connection to a future chilled water plant, providing more efficient cooling than the recently installed air-cooled DX system.
